Community Land Trust (CLT) Appraisal Training
ZOOM
North Carolina
Friday, March 17, 2023, 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM EDT
Category: Education

NEW SEMINAR! There is an approximate housing supply shortage of 3.8 million units in the U.S. – but community land trusts (CLTs) can help keep more homes affordable. CLTs are typically managed by public or nonprofit organizations and use a self-sustaining model for lasting affordability. CLTs sell a home at below-market value to an eligible homebuyer who secured financing from a lender. In exchange for getting an affordable home, the homeowner agrees to certain restrictions on home resale.

To meet the growing demand for CLTs, the Appraisal Institute and Freddie Mac are offering this comprehensive training to provide residential appraisers with the tools and knowledge needed to accept and complete more CLT appraisal assignments. This 4-hour synchronous program may also be of great interest to lenders.

I am a Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser in WA, ID, UT, and MT, and am currently enjoying some time off between jobs! I was employed as a residential review appraiser (Commercial Job Manager) for HomeStreet Bank from 2015 until Mid-February 2023 (after 15 years as an independent real estate appraiser in MT). I obtained my license as a certified real estate appraiser in MT in 2001, a license as a real estate sales agent in 2008, my SRA designation in 2009, my AI-RRS designation in 2016, and my MT Real Estate Broker License in 2021.

I served six years as a member of the Montana Real Estate Appraiser Board and an additional six years on the Appraisal Institute’s National Government Relations Committee representing Region 1. Currently, I serve as the Vice Chair of Region 1 for the Appraisal Institute. I also recently developed a new seminar call “Community Land Trust training” for the Appraisal Institute!

I served as a public member on the 2020 ANSI-Z765 consensus committee and currently serve as the Chair of the Ravalli County Tax Appeal Board, the Chair of the city of Hamilton’s Zoning Board of Adjustments, Governor on the Montana Regional Multiple Listing Service - elected by the Bitterroot Valley Board of Realtors, a board member to National Round Table Organization,  a volunteer charged with the keeping the kitchen organized during the Bitterroot Winter Special Olympics, and was elected as the City of Hamilton’s Councilman for Ward Three in 2021.

I love to help others, especially with their real estate questions/needs, and enjoy opportunities to share my expertise and knowledge with others.
