Congratulations to New Designee John R. Accornero, AI-GRS

John A.The North Carolina Chapter of the Appraisal Institute is pleased to congratulate John R. Accornero on earning the AI-GRS designation. John successfully completed all requirements for the designation in December 2025. We commend him on this significant professional achievement and wish him continued success.

John grew up in Miami, Florida, before moving to the Raleigh, North Carolina, area in 2018. His family's involvement in appraisal began with his grandfather, who started as a local real estate broker in North Miami during the late 1960s. Seeing an opportunity, his grandfather expanded the business into appraisal services. John's Uncle, Lawrence Pendleton, MAI, followed in his footsteps after earning a degree in Real Estate from the University of Florida. Lawrence developed the company into a successful small firm that, at its peak, employed more than ten staff appraisers.

John joined the family firm formally in 2000 after attending the University of Miami. Lawrence became a primary mentor to John and his older son, Ryan Pendleton. Over the next decade, both gained extensive experience with various commercial valuation assignments. In 2012, John transitioned into review work and has served as a bank reviewer ever since. He enjoyed fee work, but found it offered limited diversity in assignments. Shifting to review roles broadened his experience, allowing him to work in regional and sometimes national markets, and exposing him to a greater variety of property types and valuation methods than he would have encountered otherwise.

This career path has been fulfilling for John, presenting ongoing opportunities for learning and professional growth in the appraisal field. After many years in the industry, he is proud to have earned designation as a member of the Appraisal Institute.
