Virtual Designation Requirement Overview Webinar
We recently hosted an hour-long pilot webinar (via Zoom) entitled “Designation Requirement Overview” with the Chicago chapter and intend to host several more this year. The webinar, targeting Candidates and Associate Members, covers the policies and processes of Experience, the Comprehensive Examination, and the Demonstration of Knowledge. If you have a Candidate who has questions about these requirements, please mention that they should keep an eye out for these webinars. Advisors are welcome to attend these sessions to brush up on their knowledge of the requirements. If your chapter or region is interested in hosting one, please let me know.
Core Designation Requirements
An increasing number of Candidates incorrectly think that Experience, the Demonstration of Knowledge, and the Comprehensive Examination must be completed in a certain order. These requirements can be completed in any order. Many take the Comprehensive Examination soon after completing their prerequisites, while others complete the Demonstration of Knowledge, which may help them grasp concepts possibly covered on the Comprehensive Examination. Experience is typically the least demanding of the requirements, as it can be completed at a pace and time suitable for the Candidate.
Advisor Program
Selecting a Candidate Advisor is optional, so many new Candidates are opting out. If you wish to advise more Candidates, reach out to Candidates in your chapter to let them know you’re available!
Note: if you have placed restrictions on your role as a Candidate advisor (i.e., advising only members of your company or local chapter), your name will not appear for selection, so please inform me if you wish to add a particular Candidate.
Please contact me if you wish to reassign any Candidates, especially if they have been unresponsive, or if you cannot take on additional Candidates.
You will receive a new pairing email for already existing advisees if they were granted a new four-year timeline. You can log into the advisor portal and check their candidacy end date; if it is later than December 31, 2027, then they have a new timeline. The reassignment of an existing advisee removes all previous comments, so please contact me for a copy.
Please contact me if you would like to withdraw from AI’s Candidate Advisor Program.
Candidate Eligibility
Effective January 1, 2023, all prerequisites must be completed for an individual to enter the Candidate for Designation program. Candidates who entered the program before 2023 may still need to complete prerequisites to remain a Candidate.
Extensions for the Candidate program are generally no longer granted, although we can make minor adjustments to the candidate’s end date to accommodate scheduled courses and/or exams. Candidates must qualify for an additional four-year timeline, or they will be removed from candidacy and can complete the prerequisites as an Associate Member.
Note: Designated Members who do not receive additional time on their candidacies will be removed from the Candidate program and can reapply when eligible.
