NCAI Legislative Day a Great Success!

NCAI had a very good day at the NC Capitol on Tuesday, April 29th for Legislative Affairs Day. Team NCAI was represented by a phenomenal group of members, including Kelli Mayhew, Mike Elwell, Vanessa Hall, Erica Butler, Richard Earley, Nathan Pippin, Greyson Morgan, and Shep Overton. NCAI was joined by our NC lobbyists Jon Hardister and Sebastian King of Elevation Strategies, LLC, and by AI Director of Legislative Affairs, Scott DiBiasio. Our lobbyists were absolutely pivotal in promoting and protecting our interests.

Linda Nelson and Monica Long, both members of NCAI, attended to represent NCPAC leadership. NCPAC is working jointly with NCAI to oppose SB 690, and has been instrumental in this effort.

We started the day with plans to lobby, and thanks to multiple interactions by Jon Hardister and Sebastian King, we quicky transitioned to negotiating with the proponents of SB 690 at the behest of the bill sponsors. Our engagement with all parties was positive and much progress was made. The bill is currently under revision and we expect to have a final draft for review shortly. The revised bill is likely to be heard by the NC Senate Commerce and Insurance Committee on Tuesday, May 6th. Representatives of NCAI and NCPAC will be on hand to testify and answer questions for legislators.

Our chapter members and our team of lobbyists were extremely effective and we are grateful for their time and their commitment to protecting NC appraisers. We could not have chosen a better team to represent our interests.
