I would like to announce that we have a new Executive Director for the Chapter.  Randolph Cloud & Associates of Raleigh will begin operations on April 3, 2017, with Paola "Paula" Learoyd as Executive Director. Please be patient as we transition operations to this capable and highly regarded firm. The Personnel and Executive Committees spent a great deal of time and energy during the selection process, and we are confident that Paola and her team will do an excellent job for the Chapter. More information is forthcoming.

Chapter finances will be taken over by National in the summer/fall of 2017. This is a great move for our chapter and we are delighted to have been chosen as one of the Beta chapters. This program will allow a much better and more accurate accounting of our financial situation, which will alleviate some cost and frees officer time for other important chapter activities, such as member services and recruitment, education, and events.

As of yesterday, HB 431 has been introduced in the legislature. Sponsors were lined up thanks to the Government Relations Committee (Chaired by Mike Moody, MAI). Our lobbyist (David Ferrell) has been invaluable during this process. Please look out for updates.

I am calling for volunteers and sponsors for the two REVC's and the Appraisalympics.  The Spring REVC is scheduled for May 8 & 9 in Raleigh and we would appreciate help with registration and speakers as well as sponsors.

The first ever Chapter-wide Appraisalympics will be held on July 29, 2017 in Greensboro. This is a charity event and families are encouraged to attend. Again volunteers and sponsors are needed. We are also looking toward the fall REVC in Charlotte.

Sincerely, Frank Leatherman, MAI

2017 Chapter President
